Which tables are usually easier to extract?
Aligned columns, clear headings, and native text make tables easier to identify. Merged cells, multiple tables on one page, and columns without separators may need manual correction.
Do numbers and dates become Excel values?
Values are kept as text to prevent extracted content from being interpreted as a formula. Review decimal separators, leading zeros, and dates before converting cells to numeric types. A code such as 00123 should not lose its zeros by mistake.
How to validate an extracted spreadsheet
Check the first and last records, count rows, and compare samples from the middle of the table. Check whether a heading from the next page was included as data. Recalculate totals only after reviewing cell values and types.
What if the PDF is a scanned document?
OCR can confuse characters such as 0 and O or 1 and I, especially in blurry or tilted images. An OCR-generated spreadsheet needs careful review; an XLSX file does not guarantee that every value is correct.
Does the spreadsheet keep the original formulas?
No. A PDF generally contains the visual result, not the formulas of the spreadsheet that created it. The tool extracts values and identifiable structure; calculations, charts, and advanced formatting must be checked or recreated.
