Metadata cleanup: see what changes in the file
In this synthetic PNG, cleanup removed 10 metadata fields, including GPS, authorship and Software. Displayed pixels and the color profile remained identical. Removing those fields does not turn an image into a photograph or guarantee that AI signals become undetectable.
File privacy with appearance preserved
- Download both PNG images and compare the reports. All example fields are fictional; the coordinates used are 0, 0.
- To repeat, open Clean image metadata, choose broad cleanup and read the confirmation about provenance credentials.
- Keep the original. Share the copy only after checking the report and its appearance.
How we built this example
We rendered the synthetic PDF to Word demonstration report as PNG and added fictional authorship, location, description and Software tags, plus an sRGB profile. The Software field mentions AI only as test data: this image was rendered by code, not generated by AI. We ran the actual engine 1.12 tool on September 17, 2026.
Verification beyond appearance
The comparison checked decoded pixels in display orientation and the ICC profile, not just thumbnails. We also verified that the original hash stayed unchanged and listed removed and retained fields. The copy has a different hash because its metadata changed.
What this operation does not remove
Visible watermarks, signals embedded in pixels and statistical generation clues may remain. Embedded provenance credentials may be lost, which is why confirmation is required before processing. We do not use the AI detector to certify supposed undetectability. This experiment covers one static PNG, not every format or file.
